Owner James Chapman brings a quality, experience and personal touch of rare distinction to events provided by Rhinecliff Event Catering.
The Rhinecliff opened in 2008, the Hudson Valley's first riverside boutique and historic hotel. Since opening, Rhinecliff Event Catering has catered a stunning array of events of all shapes and sizes, from weddings, galas, fundraisers, anniversaries, bar/bat mitzvahs to corporate events and group tours. In 2011 Rhinecliff Event Catering began to offer off-premise events also and has since catered events large and small at venues in the Hudson Valley and beyond.
British born owner James Chapman has a lifetime of experience in hospitality spanning the globe. Trained in the grand kitchens of London to Executive Chef level, James was trained in French cuisine under Michelin starred Richard Shepherd, then went on to work and open restaurants around the world, from Barcelona, Venice and Athens to Mexico City, Miami and Manila, finally landing in New York City where James was Director of Operations for the world famous Cipriani company. James opened Cipriani Dolci in Grand Central Station, Cipriani Le Specialita on 42nd Street, and the newly renovated Rainbow Room in 1999.
In 2003 James and his brother David purchased the historic Rhinecliff Hotel in upstate New York. After a gruelling five year renovation, the Hudson Valley’s first riverside boutique hotel The Rhinecliff was born...therhinecliff.com.
